College student said he called 911 as a "joke" when officers arrived at the scene, Hackettstown police say,
A college student was cited with causing a false alarm after dialing 911 as a prank, Hackettstown police say.
Hackettsown police responded shortly before 8 p.m. Friday to Centenary College, 400 Jefferson St, at the Washabaugh Hall Dormitory following an abandoned 911 call.
When officers arrived at the dormitory, college security advised the call came from an emergency phone located on the first floor and no one was around. Police later determined Kenneth Saint-Preux, 19, of South Orange allegedly dialed 911 as a "joke" and told police there was no real emergency.
Saint-Preux was released pending a court appearance.
