The high school and alternative schools have shelter-in-place orders as police investigate nearby.
UPDATE: 1 victim confirmed in Phillipsburg shooting
Phillipsburg High School and alternative school are under shelter-in-place orders as police investigate a shots-fired call nearby.

The orders were recommended by police and will remain in place until further notice, Superintendent George Chando said about 10 a.m. Friday. A shelter-in-place, or "soft lockdown," means no one is allowed to enter or leave the school.
Town police were called to the first block of Rose Street -- near the entrance to the Route 22 toll bridge -- shortly before 8:15 a.m. and searched in lawns and on cars for evidence. Dispatches reported four men ran off after the shooting.
