Two men are in custody but a third, unidentified suspect is still sought.
The victim of a shooting last week in Phillipsburg is back in New Jersey and behind bars.
Damir L. Allen, of Orange, New Jersey, was wounded in a fight that led to gunshots last Friday in the 100 block of Rose Street, authorities allege. At least one bullet struck him in the back of the leg, Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke said Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Allen fled into Pennsylvania for treatment at Easton Hospital, authorities said. He was taken into custody there and extradited Thursday to Warren County, where he faces two weapons counts and a fugitive charge.
Allen was allegedly shot by 24-year-old Phillipsburg resident Almalik S. Davis, who was imprisoned last week in Warren County on one count of second-degree aggravated assault and three second-degree weapons charges.
Both Allen and Davis illegally had guns, authorities said. They are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Death on tracks an apparent suicide
Each second-degree charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
A third suspect is believed to have fled with Allen, but that person has not yet been identified, Burke said. It also was not clear what the men were fighting about before shots were fired.
Two nearby schools were placed on lockdown for much of the day Friday as police investigated the scene.
