The school is open this weekend as students grieve Connor Barbaro, a junior who played two sports.
UPDATE: 'Everyone knew Connor'
The Belvidere High School community is mourning the death of a high school junior this weekend.
Connor Barbaro, a junior who played basketball and soccer, has died, Belvidere School District Superintendent Christopher Carrubba confirmed Saturday.
"We're saddened to hear the news that he has passed," Carrubba said. "He was a great student and an outstanding member of the Belvidere community."
Counselors are present Saturday at Belvidere High School and will be through the weekend and on Monday, he said.
The circumstances around Barbaro's death were not immediately disclosed.
Barbaro recently scored a career-high 20 points in a basketball game against Hackettstown, the same night the high school dedicated its gymnasium to Andy Mark, a former coach and superintendent.
