Hope mayor installs fire department officers

Mayor Tim McDonough swears in officers at the department's annual dinner.



The Hope Volunteer Fire Department recently held its 2016 officers' installation dinner.


Mayor Tim McDonough swore in the line officers consisting of Andrew Drake, chief; John Kruk, assistant chief; Robert Mohr, 2nd assistant chief; Jeff Skow, forman; and Francis Giambrone, assistant forman.


Mayor McDonough also swore in the executive line with John Koonz as president; James Moore, vice president; Chad Koonz, secretary; and John Mikesh, treasurer. 


A historic poem about the great Hope fire of 1918 was recited and the department's history along with recent events were presented, as were several awards.


Firefighters pay tribute as steel crosses country


Steve Gorski and Matt Malon were recognized for decades of service and continued support as drivers/pump operators.


Al Sauck was recognized for his years as vice president and Anthony Lytle was given an award for over a decade of service as treasurer.


The Firefighter of the Year award was given to Justin Granitzski. The Hope Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1953 and maintains a staff of 25 volunteers and responds to over 150 emergency calls per year.
