The Phillipsburg High School Drama Club is gearing up for opening night of its presentation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein show "Carousel," as part of its entry into the 2016 Freddy Awards.
Showtimes are:
7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15
7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16
2 p.m. Sunday, April 17
Tickets cost $7 for students and seniors and $10 for adults and may be purchased at hsdrama@pburgsd.net or at the door. The show is presented at the school, 200 Hillcrest Blvd. Phillipsburg
"Carousel" is the story of brash carousel barker Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan, a quiet girl who works in the mill. The two fall in love, marry, and have a stormy relationship that leads to tragedy and an attempt at mending old wounds from beyond the grave. It contains well known musical numbers such as "If I Loved You" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
The 2016 Freddy Awards ceremony will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the State Theatre in Easton.
