Ttayhanth Hyatt, 24, of Randolph, is facing multiple charges.

NETCONG -- A 24-year-old Randolph man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly struck a borough police officer with his car and then led officers on a chase from Morris to Warren counties, police said.

Police were dispatched to Netcong Heights Apartments at 8:20 a.m. for a reported disturbance and when Corporal Joe Matits arrived on the scene Ttayh-Anthony Hyatt was sitting in his vehicle with the door open, Netcong police Chief James Blesson said in a news release.

Hyatt, who was visiting a friend in Netcong, was allegedly identified by the victim as being involved in the disturbance at the apartment complex, Blesson said.

Matis was at Hyatt's driver's side door speaking to him when Hyatt threw the car in reverse and struck the officer with the driver's side door, the police chief said.

The corporal was knocked to the ground and injured his left knee, but he was able to radio a description of the vehicle and a possible direction to Roxbury police officers, Blesson said.

Roxbury police responded to the area and located the vehicle traveling on Route 46 west. The vehicle, however, refused to stop and began to travel on Route 80 west in the area of Exit 27, Blesson said.

A pursuit ensued on Route 80, which was joined by State Police, and Hyatt was eventually stopped at mile marker 6.6 at 8:53 a.m. near the border of Hope and Knowlton Township.

After he was stopped, Hyatt was found to be in possession of a carving knife and B.B.-style handgun at the time of his arrest, Blesson said.

Hyatt was charged with criminal mischief, assault and assault by auto. He's also facing two counts of possession of a weapon knife /firearm, two counts of a weapon for unlawful purpose, eluding and numerous motor vehicle violations.

Hyatt was remanded to Morris County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.

Correction: A man who identified himself as Hyatt's brother provided the correct spelling of his first name, Ttayh-Anthony.
