Jessica Milstrey is a math teacher at the Greenwich Township school she attended growing up.
It's not weird for Jessica Milstrey to see her elementary school teachers.
What is weird, she said, is calling them by their first names.
Milstrey, the valedictorian in Centenary College's 141st spring commencement on Saturday, has already been working for months as a fourth grade math teacher at Greenwich Elementary School, which she attended.
"It's indescribable really," Milstrey, 22, said a day before her graduation at the Hackettstown college. "I work with people who taught me as a student."
Milstrey completed her courses in December and began work shortly after. She majored in liberal arts, minored in environmental science and history, and earned teaching certification for elementary and special education.
As valedictorian, Milstrey is scheduled to give a speech at Saturday's commencement. She said the pressure of the speech is nerve-wracking, but the message is one applicable to both her peers and students: To always look ahead and push to keep growing and learning.
