Tractor-trailer fire shuts Interstate 80 East lanes

The incident began at 5:08 a.m., according to the Warren County Department of Public Safety. It was cleared by 8:20 a.m.



A tractor-trailer fire early Wednesday morning shut two lanes on Interstate 80 East.


The incident was east of Exit 4 in Knowlton Township and was impacting the right and center lanes, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said.


No one was hurt, a trooper from the New Jersey State Police barracks at Hope said. Traffic was backed up, with a 10- to 15-minutes delay at 6:49 a.m.


The Warren County Department of Public Safety reported a burning Fed-Ex truck at 5:08 a.m.


The lane closures remained in place as of 6:35 a.m., the DOT said. By 6:54 a.m., the center lane had reopened. The right lane was still closed at 7:30 a.m., the DOT said.


The incident was cleared by 8:20 a.m., the DOT said.
