Phillipsburg homes burglarized while residents are inside

Police urge residents to lock their windows and doors when they go to bed or when they leave their residence.



Phillipsburg police say they are investigating a series of burglaries, and one attempted burglary, this week that all occurred during the early morning hours before sunrise -- when residents were home.


The perpetrators are entering the homes through unlocked windows and entry doors. Police urge residents to lock their windows and doors when they go to bed or when they leave their residence.

Investigators gave the following accounts of the incidents:


Tuesday, a home in the 100 block of Lewis Street and a house in the 100 block of Summit Avenue were burglarized.


Wednesday, a house in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue was burglarized and there was an attempt made to burglarize a home in the 100 block of Summit Avenue.


"We ask residents to contact the police immediately if they see or hear any suspicious activity in or around their neighborhood," Phillipsburg police Detective Lt. Michael Swick said in a news release.
