The New Jersey rocker said he will put Murray's number on his guitar.
Outpouring of support for Warren Hills and the family of quarterback Evan Murray has flooded social media since the 17-year-old's death a week ago after a high school football game.
New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi is among the latest to offer condolences, and devised a unique tribute.
In a YouTube video posted Thursday, the rocker said he would put Murray's number, 18, on his guitar for his show that night in the United Arab Emirates.
"As a father, as a father of football players, my heart, my prayers, my thoughts go out to the Murray family," Bon Jovi said in the video.
Murray died from a lacerated spleen after taking hits during the Blue Streaks' football game last Friday. His funeral was Thursday.

The school's homecoming celebration was planned for this weekend but has been postponed, and the game against Voorhees High School has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Bon Jovi offered his support for the team.
"To all the team, I wish you the best this season," he said. "And keep it up, guys, alright? Win one for Evan."
