North Hunterdon and Phillipsburg also enjoyed success at the Shore.

Voorhees, North Hunterdon and Phillipsburg’s boys all enjoyed big days at the New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational at Holmdel Park Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings absolutely dominated the Varsity C race, placing six runners in the top 15 and winning the team title with 22 points to runner-up Summit’s 83. Had the race been scored as a dual meet – Voorhees against the other 19 teams – the Vikings would have won 22-33.

Voorhees senior Rob Whitney led the way by winning the race in 16 minutes, 14 seconds, the co-second best time of the day in any of the six races (West Windsor-Plainsboro South’s Tim Bason won the Varsity A2 race in 15:58).

Behind Whitney came sophomore Chris Romero in second (16:19); sophomore Brendan McGill in fifth (16:45); junior Evan Minor in seventh (16:56); senior Matt Vira in eighth (17:08); and sophomore Joe Capone in 15th (17:23).

Phillipsburg senior Jake Hardin posted the highest local finish in the Varsity A1 race in 16 minutes, 51 seconds to come in eighth overall.

The Stateliners finished seventh as a team with 215 points.

North Hunterdon captured third in the A1 race with 131 points. The Lions had a strong pack, placing four runners in 15th through 28th places, led by senior Robert Spies in 15th at 17:11.

Warren Hills finished 16th in the Varsity A2 race. Junior Scott Ruskan led the Blue Streaks in 60th place at 18:01.

Sophomore Braden Keenan led Belvidere in the Varsity F race in 53rd place at 20:49.
