Pohatcong Township police investigating the threat found it to be empty, and the 40-year-old was taken to jail.
An irate customer threatened to blow up a Wells Fargo bank branch Monday afternoon in Pohatcong Township, according to township police.
Edmond Ascolese, 40, was arrested at home in the 600 block of Vulcanite Avenue in Alpha shortly after the incident, police Chief Jeffrey Greenmeir said.
Township police were called 12:18 p.m. to the bank at 1230 Route 22.
"It's not a terrorist act or anything like that," Greenmeir said after Ascolese was in custody. "He was just an irate customer."
Police determined Ascolese had no explosives, and the bank remained open for business, according to police.
"The investigation determined there was no bomb," Greenmeir said.
