The son of a former Washington Township councilman and mayor has been charged with drunken driving following a May high-speed crash in the township.
Kyle Dempski, 19, at 2:50 a.m. May 20 was westbound on Bowerstown Road at a high speed when the vehicle left the road and struck mailboxes, garbage cans and a tree, township police said.
Ex-mayor's son suspected of DUI
Dempski suffered facial injuries and was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center. Police on Thursday didn't have information when Dempski was released from the hospital and a hospital spokeswoman couldn't immediately be reached for information.
Following a blood test, it was determined Dempski's blood-alcohol level was 0.11; penalties for most drivers in New Jersey start at 0.08.
Besides drunken driving, Dempski was charged with reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
Dempski is the son of former township mayor and committeeman David Dempski. David Dempski didn't immediately return a voicemail for comment.
