The Centenary University seniors inflicted serious injuries on the man during homecoming 2015.

A pair of New Jersey college wrestlers have admitted they ganged up on and beat a visitor to the Warren County campus last year.

Joseph Bartolini, 23, of Lakewood, and Adam Swift, 22, of Secaucus, both pleaded guilty Thursday to one count each of aggravated assault for the beating at Centenary University that left a third man with extensive injuries, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday.

The victim, identified only by initials in a news release from the prosecutor, was visiting his girlfriend Oct. 9, 2015, during homecoming weekend at the campus in Hackettstown

Bartolini and Swift were seniors on the wrestling team at the time. Swift held the victim while Bartolini repeatedly punched him in the face, inflicting wounds that the prosecutors said required reconstructive surgery.

Prosecutors are recommending Bartolini be sentenced 364 days in the Warren County jail and five years of probation, according to the news release. Swift is also recommended for five years' probation, but authorities will ask that his 364-day jail sentence be suspended for cooperating against his co-defendant.

Sentencing for both men is scheduled Oct. 7 before Judge H. Matthew Curry.
