Troopers search I-78 truck stop after reported abduction

The search was ongoing Thursday afternoon near the border of Hunterdon and Warren counties.

New Jersey State Police from the ground and the air searched around an Interstate 78 truck stop Thursday after a reported abduction.

Authorities by 4 p.m. were still trying to determine the legitimacy of the report received about 12:30 p.m., said Lt. Brian Polite, a state police spokesman.

He said troopers at the Perryville station in Hunterdon County received a 911 call from a woman claiming to have been abducted at the Pilot Travel Center in Bloomsbury.

The call was lost, Polite said.

"As a result of that call, troopers went to the truck stop," Polite said. "The troopers haven't found anything yet. She stated that she's being held against her will."

A state police helicopter was deployed to aid in the search. Polite said the highway and the truck stop remained open.
