Warren County is holding a government surplus auction Saturday at the Warren County Road Division Garage.
If you're reading this and are in the market for something capable of playing that old Bon Jovi "Slippery When Wet" cassette tape you found in the attic, Warren County may be able to help you out.
The county is holding a government surplus auction starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Warren County Road Division Garage, 185 County Route 519 South in White Township, just south of Belvidere. It lasts until everything has been sold.
Although the offerings are hardly of the caliber you'd find at a Sotheby's in Manhattan, the county has no shortage of interesting items, assuming most folks find heavy equipment and the kind of office supplies last seen on a desk in an episode of "Mad Men" interesting.
More than a dozen vehicles are on the block, including sedans, pick-up trucks and buses used by local government over the years, according to Christopher J. Pessolano, the county's purchasing agent.
The exception is a tractor-trailer seized by the Warren County Prosecutor's Office. County spokesman Art Charlton didn't know the circumstances behind the seizure.
"The truck is a bit unique," Charlton said.

But it's hardly the only unique item up for grabs. There's a fog generator for those out there who like generating fog. And, no, it wasn't used by the county to create special effects on the stage of a taxpayer-funded rock concert.
The purpose was far more legitimate: the county's mosquito commission used it to control the mosquito population.
Also in the heavy equipment lot is an asphalt roller, a portable water tanker and a pair of tractors. An old traffic signal is available as well.
The office supplies are perhaps the biggest gems at the auction in terms of nostalgic appeal. There's a Panasonic RQ-2102 cassette recorder with built-in speaker for sale.
A Sharp adding machine and several calculators are also up for grabs for those who haven't discovered there's an app for all that already installed on their smartphones.
And if you want to be like Mitt Romney and have "binders full of women," you can get off to a good start by buying the binders at this auction.
Other office supplies include a Brother typewriter, a Dymo label maker, a floppy disc case and a hole-punch machine.
As for stuff millennials might have actually used in their lifetime, Dell computers, Laser printers and LCD monitors are available.
Pessolano said the annual auction's offerings vary. For example, there are fewer vehicles for sale this year than in past years.
Most of the items are county-owned, but the county will also put up items owned by municipalities within the county as a courtesy, he said.
Proceeds from the sales of the municipal-owned items go back to the municipalities.
Pessolano said the auctions usually generate $30,000 at the low end and $100,000 at the high end.
