A black bear died Friday night when it was struck by a tractor-trailer on Route 22 in Lopatcong Township.

The trucker wasn't hurt.
The bear appeared to be tagged on its ear and was removed from the highway by a state Department of Transportation crew.
Police at the scene said a report on the crash wouldn't be available until Saturday.
The rig stopped after the crash and continued on its way westbound after the trucker spoke with police, according to a witness account.
