There were no immediate reports of injuries, according to police.
A crash involving several vehicles closed three lanes of Interstate 80 East just before 5 a.m. Friday in Knowlton Township, authorities said.
The effort continued at 5:45 a.m. to remove vehicles from the highway, a sergeant at the New Jersey State Police barracks in Hope said.
He added that there were no reports of injuries in the wreck, which involved four or five vehicles.
The crash was east of Exit 4, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said.
One lane had reopened just before 6 am., the DOT said.
All lanes were open just before 6:30 a.m., the DOT said.
