The truck crashed on Harmony Brass Castle Road in Washington Township.
A flatbed truck rolled onto its side Tuesday evening in Warren County, spilling counter balance weights used for a crane, according to police and a report from the scene.
It was reported about 5 p.m. The truck crashed headed east on Harmony Brass Castle Road as it approached the intersection with Brass Castle Road in Washington Township, township police Sgt. Christopher Jones said.
Police were investigating a possible equipment malfunction on the truck as the reason the male driver lost control, Jones said.
The driver, whose name was not immediately available Tuesday night, was taken by the Washington Rescue Squad to Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township as a precaution.
Three counter weights broke free from the truck and slid into the intersection, leaving deep gouges and scrapes in the road, the report from the scene indicated.
Brass Castle Road reopened by about 7:45 p.m., but Harmony Brass Castle Road remained closed due to the damage, according to police. It was not immediately clear when the road would reopen.
A heavy-duty wrecker removed the weights from the intersection and righted the truck.
The truck was following the crane for which the weights were being used, police said.
