Music was in the crisp autumn air over Maloney Stadium on Wednesday night. And lots of it.
The Phillipsburg High School Band and its boosters held the annual Neil Boyer American Heritage Festival of Bands -- a showcase they've been sponsoring since 1972.
More than a dozen bands from New Jersey and Pennsylvania participated.
Phillipsburg renamed the festival in 2006 to honor Neil Boyer, who retired after 35 years in the school district teaching instrumental music and directing the marching band.
