The 49-year-old woman was pulled over early Sunday morning in Hackettstown, town police said.
A drunken Sussex County woman was found with empty beer bottles in the backseat and cocaine on the floor of her car during a traffic stop Sunday, according to Hackettstown police.
Authorities charged the driver and a passenger.
Police at 12:44 a.m. Sunday pulled over Darlene Goupil, 49, of Newton, along Route 46, police said. An officer immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
Police said they saw two empty bottles of Corona beer with lime wedges inside, according to a news release. Both bottles were still cold, police said.
The officer also allegedly saw cocaine in a plastic bag on the front passenger floor, according to a news release.
Goupil's passenger, 47-year-old Keilley Strobeck, of Branchville, N.J., denied ownership of the cocaine and so did Goupil, according to police.
Goupil was charged with cocaine possession, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol. She also was cited because her car had a broken brake light, police said.
Keilley was charged with cocaine possession and having an open container of alcohol, police said.
Both were released pending a court appearance, according to police.
