A 24-year-old Somerset County man is behind bars in Warren County, accused of stabbing a woman Friday night in Phillipsburg.
Town police arrested Aaron Vaughn, of Somerville, near the railroad tracks by Elizabeth Avenue after a foot chase following the 7 p.m. assault near South Main and Sitgreaves streets, according to county prosecutor Richard Burke.
The victim, a 32-year-old woman of a different address in Somerville, was hospitalized with wounds and abrasions to her upper torso and head, Burke said. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

It was unclear why the pair were in Phillipsburg or why the attack happened. The prosecutor confirmed the suspect and victim have children together.
Vaughn was sent to the county jail and is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and two weapons charges.
