Two accidents involving multiple vehicles and one tractor-trailer have been reported on a slick, snow-covered westbound Interstate 78 on March 10, 2017.

BETHLEHEM TWP. - Two accidents involving multiple vehicles and one tractor-trailer have been reported on a slick, snow-covered westbound Interstate 78 on Friday morning.

The first accident happened around 7:45 a.m. at milemarker 9.1 approaching Jugtown Mountain. Those on the scene report six vehicles and a tractor-trailer are involved in the accident. It appears most of the vehicles have minor damage, and all are pulled onto the shoulder, according to those at the scene.

Interstate 78 and surrounding roads are snow-covered in the area, with some patches of ice.

Accidents in Lehigh Valley as snow intensifies

A second accident happened just before 7:50 a.m. when a van flipped over and ended up off westbound Interstate 78 at milemarker 8.8, just before the scene of the first accident. Emergency responders reported seeing the van crash in front of them as they were heading to the first accident.

As of 9 a.m., the accidents have been cleared and there are only minor delays. Delays of up to 2 miles had been reported on the westbound side of the expressway. The state Department of Transportation reported the right lane is closed approaching the overturned van, with delays of up to 10 minutes.
