One vehicle came to rest in the center lane, while another skidded down an embankment.

A crash as rush-hour traffic was building Thursday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Warren County sent the driver and passenger in one vehicle to an area hospital, New Jersey State Police said.

It occurred about 4:20 p.m. near milepost 8.8 on I-80 West in Blairstown Township, according to police.

Reports from the scene indicated one vehicle involved came to rest in the center lane and another skidded off the highway and down a wooded embankment.

The two people who were injured were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono in East Stroudsburg, according to state police at Hope. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

AT lodge robbery was a coverup, cops say

It was not immediately clear which vehicle those two motorists were in, and police were continuing to investigate the incident.

The names of those involved and any charges filed were not immediately available.

The crash closed down the right and center lanes for a period, causing traffic to back up in the area.
