There was plenty of debate after a NJ Advance Media editorial, headlined "Science is under threat from Trump era politics," supported the upcoming March for Science in Trenton and more than 200 communities.
Donald Trump is an American hero for putting the needs of his people first.
Donald Trump is a villain for endangering for elevating corporate wealth over the life-threatening realities of climate change.
So raged the debate after a NJ Advance Media editorial, headlined "Science is under threat from Trump era politics," supported the upcoming March for Science in Trenton and more than 200 communities.
Here is a sampling:
Dump Trump: The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is very likely human-induced and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented in the past 1,300 years. Earth-orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate.
VoiceofDemocracy: The Trump presidency represents a retreat from reason and a return to medieval transactional truth. ... Nothing is really true according to Trump, everything is negotiable, including facts, figures and the very reality we all have to deal with in living with the Trump administration.
Trey Vaughn: God bless President Trump for putting America first and ignoring these climate change frauds.
Fahrenheit: It's not just about Climate change, President Trump's proposed skinny budget was a horror show for all manner of sciences. Everything from nuclear fusion to rare diseases, exactly the type of stuff that doesn't attract business interests as they're a long term payoff goal (fusion) or have very narrow scope (rare diseases).
buckshot-00: Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, by anyone's standards. It is the essence of life on this planet. Global warming is an unproven hypothesis. Climate change is a scientific fact. Global warming is dishonest political tool for governments to try to control people with more taxes.
CashewBros: Most of us are tired of science. That's why we are paying $15 for a light bulb.
Tweetthis: The Donald is a hypocrite. He cited climate change as the reason he needed to build a thirteen foot wall around his golf course in Scotland. And he wanted the citizens of Scotland to pay for it. That's the man running our country. Sad.
gyre: Trump has reversed himself on about 75 percent of what he said he'd do during campaign season. One can only hope that science funding will be his next reversal. That's why this demonstration in Trenton is so important. The people need to speak up and push back against the rising tide of know-nothingism that's currently afflicting America.
Defluxx: While we should definitely be mindful of pollution and such, it should not be taken to the extremes either. The idea that the earth is going to be inhospitable within the next 100 years is completely absurd.
UseYourHead: Actually, even Trump would agree, we all want our endocrinologists, oncologists, and surgeons to study and understand science, especially if they work on you. So Trump will change his tune on this subject too. Alternatively, we have to go back to magic spells and prayer.
