UNION TWP. - The Pattenburg Fire Department and the Franklin Township (Warren County) fire departments held a joint drill on Monday utilizing a pond behind the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse on Route 173.
The playhouse lets fire departments use the pond for a fill site to fill tankers during fires. The drill is held to see how much water drafted out of the pond can be pushed through hoses.
Pattenburg's engine did the drafting and Franklin set up their snorkel aerial. They pumped water to the snorkel and several hand line hoses.
Both Pattenburg and Franklin are among the five fire departments that cover Bethlehem Township and provided mutual aid to each other during fire calls.
