The road was shut down between Routes 22 and 519 for almost two hours.
Route 57 was closed Tuesday afternoon in Lopatcong Township after a branch fell on power lines.
The road was shut down in both directions from about 3:30 to 5 p.m. between Routes 22 and 519. The state transportation department reported detours and a five-minute delay during that time.
Township police said wind brought the limb down on the power lines. A driver who saw that pulled over to report it, and was stuck for a time when the wires fell on their car as well, police said. No injuries were reported.
JCP&L as of about 4:30 p.m. reported up to 100 customers were without power in the area.
There were several dispatches all over Warren County for trees falling on wires during the windy afternoon. Mostly minor power outages were reported.
Lopatcong police reminded motorists that if live wires fall on their car, they should wait inside for emergency personnel to remove them.
