The crash closed the left lane of the westbound highway for several hours in Warren County, police said.

A single-vehicle crash Friday morning on Interstate 80 in Warren County resulted in serious injuries to the driver, according to New Jersey State Police.

It was reported about 10:10 a.m. on I-80 West at mile-marker 12 in Hope Township.

The vehicle left the highway to the left, entered the grassy median and came to rest in a ditch, Trooper Lawrence Peele said.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Hackettstown Medical Center and was in serious condition Friday afternoon, Peele said. A passenger was uninjured.

Police were continuing to investigate what caused the driver to lose control, and authorities were not immediately releasing the names of those involved.
