Several groups plan to hold a rally on May 16, 2017, demanding U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7th) call for an independent investigation into President Donald Trump's connections and dealings with Russia.
FLEMINGTON - Several groups plan to hold a rally Tuesday afternoon demanding U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7th) call for an independent investigation into President Donald Trump's connections and dealings with Russia.
The rally runs from 4:30-7 p.m. in front of the Hunterdon County Historic Court House, 75 Main St. and is organized by Indivisible Lambertville/New Hope, Progressive Hunterdon Democrats, Indivisible Garden State Values, Tewksbury Area Indivisible and NJ7 Forward, according to a news release.
It comes the day after the Washington Post reported that Trump revealed highly classified information about Islamic State militants to Russian officials during a meeting last week, the Associated Press reported. The revelations prompted strong condemnation from both Democrats and Republicans. The president on Tuesday morning defended the release of the information.
"The ongoing activities of this administration with regards to the continued exposure of numerous links to Russia provide ample grounds for an independent, bipartisan committee to matter," according to a statement from the organizers of the protest. "It is past time, Democracy and the safety of the American public are at stake."
