Police said there is just one driver registered to operate a taxi in the town.
Hackettstown police have cited a taxi driver for allegedly picking up customers illegally.
William Saunders, 63, of Hackettstown at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday was stopped by police along Washington Street. The officer was aware there is just one driver registered to operate a taxi in the town, police said.
Police say Sauders did not have a license to be a taxi driver in Hackettstown.
Sauders was issued summonses for being an unlicensed taxi driver and careless driving. He was released pending a court appearance.
