The alleged burglar was found walking along a nearby street.
A burglar was caught in the act trying to break into a Hackettstown home when the homeowner began snapping photos of him, police said.
Charged is Matthew Dughi, 28, of Independence Township.
Police at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday were called to the 600 block of East Baldwin Street for an attempted burglary report. The female victim reported a man who had since fled the property was peering into windows and attempting to gain entry.

The victim took the photographs as the man walked away from the property.
Investigators found Dughi walking along East Prospect Street and matched him as the suspect based on the photos and descriptions provided by the victim.
Dughi is charged with fourth-degree criminal attempt of burglary, third-degree possession of the painkiller suboxone and possession of a hypdermic syringe. He was taken to the Warren County jail.
