The big bird is still at large after being swiped from a fried chicken joint.

A big bird is at large after some rooster rustlers swiped a 4-foot decoration from outside a Warren County fried chicken joint.

Washington Township police posted surveillance video of the crime Friday on social media.

In the video -- recorded about 2:15 a.m. on June 18 -- a group is wandering by Hometown Fried Chicken at 40 E. Washington Ave. (Route 57) in Washington Borough when the decoration captures their attention. Two people hoist the statue and scamper off down the road with the others into the night.

The pilfered poultry has not yet been returned, said Washington Township police Detective Walter Koch. Township police also cover the borough.

The department posted a plea on Facebook:

"If you are one of the 'rustlers' or know who they are, or possibly received a 4-foot rooster for Father's Day, please contact the Washington Township Police Department (Warren County) at 908-689-1111 so this rooster can be returned to the rightful owner."
