The possibly armed individual eventually cooperated and was hospitalized, the prosecutor said.
A standoff in Greenwich Township ended peacefully Thursday after a reportedly armed, suicidal man surrendered to authorities and was taken to a hospital, according to the Warren County prosecutor.
Township police were called about mid-morning Thursday to a home in the 400 block of Aldin Road for a possible suicide attempt, Prosecutor Richard Burke said. Officers learned on the way that the person may have had guns, including an assault rifle, he said.
The man did not answer the door or phone calls from the county's tactical response team, Burke said. Contact was eventually made through a window, the prosecutor said, and the person allowed officers inside and was cooperative.
No injuries were reported and no charges are expected.
"There was concern about his state of mind," Burke said. "Luckily, it ended without incident."
