No one was hurt but there was damage to the basement and the first floor, the township fire chief says.
A basement fire that was spreading into the first floor was rapidly knocked down Friday morning by Washington Township, Warren County, firefighters.
"It was quick, clean -- the guys did a great job," township fire Chief Mitch Tobin said of the fire that was reported at 5:41 a.m. at 83 Rymon Road. "... Two crews made entry and knocked the fire down."
The fire, which damaged about 50 percent of the unfinished basement and parts of the first floor on the right side of the house, was under control by 6:15 a.m., Tobin said. There was no damage to the home's second floor, he added.

No one was hurt and no pets were injured, Tobin said.
The home is owned by Randy H. Anema, New Jersey property records show. There was an adult and two children from the Anema family at home when the fire began, Tobin said. There were smoke alarms in the house, he added.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
The township fire department was assisted by Washington fire and rescue personnel, Tobin said.
