Monday night's crash on Interstate 78 in Warren County ejected the passenger, who was flown for treatment, New Jersey State Police say.

The crash was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the area of mile-marker 5.9 of I-78 West in Greenwich Township.

The driver suffered minor injuries, state police at Perryville said.

A medical helicopter flew the female passenger to St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill, police said.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle and no other vehicles involved, police said.

Police were continuing to investigate what caused the crash.

The incident closed all westbound lanes briefly, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said; all but the right lane had reopened as of about 7:25 p.m.

Because of an electrical pole damaged in the crash, an acceleration lane to the far right of the westbound highway was expected to remain closed for several more hours, police said. The closure was not anticipated to affect traffic.

The names of the vehicle's occupants were not immediately available.
