A 25-year-old Hackettstown man faces six years in prison under a plea agreement for a January stabbing, according to the Warren County prosecutor.
Steven G. Haar, of the 300 block of Washington Street, was accused of stabbing a 28-year-old man in the foot and back after an early morning encounter on a town street.
Haar on Thursday pleaded guilty before Judge John Kingfield to second-degree aggravated assault and two weapons charges, the prosecutor said in a news release. Under the agreement, the state will recommend a six-year prison sentence and three years of supervised parole upon release.

Haar approached the victim about 1:30 a.m. near Madison and West Moore streets and asked for a cigarette and cash, pulling out a knife when the man refused, town police said in previous reports.
The victim was stabbed in the foot when he tried to kick the knife out of Haar's hand, police said. Haar reportedly stabbed him in the back when the man ran and collapsed in a yard. A witness chased the assailant away, and Haar was arrested later that day.
Haar is being held in the Warren County jail. Sentencing is scheduled for April 29.
