70-year-old suffers trauma in Hackettstown pedestrian crash

Driver did not see pedestrian until the crash, Hackettstown police said.



A 70-year-old man suffered trauma after being struck with a vehicle while crossing a Hackettstown street, police said.

Philip Baguley, 51, of Blairstown Township, at 7:12 p.m. Saturday was driving a 2005 Subaru along Route 182 when he made a left turn at Bells Lane, police said.


Baguley's Subaru struck Ramon Incera, 70, of Hackettstown, was crossing the street, according to police. Police said Incera was not walking in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident.


Baguley told police he did not see Incera. He has not been charged.


Incera initially was taken by ambulance to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center for injuries. He later was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center for abdomen and rib trauma, as well as injured shoulder.


Responding at the scene were medics with St. Clare's.


Elaine Andrecovich, spokeswoman for Morristown Medical Center, said Incera was listed in fair condition Monday at the hospital.
