Stanley Zbikowski, 49, of Rockaway, N.J., was driving a 2006 Ford truck shortly before 10:30 a.m. south on Route 157 when he told police he hit a "loop" in the roadway, causing the steering wheel to move out of his grasp.

The pickup crashed into a street sign, the utility pole and several bushes before coming to rest, police said.

Zbikowski complained of arm pain and was taken by rescue squad to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.

The crash resulted in upward of 200 people losing power. Jersey Central Power & Light restored power to all customers by Wednesday, according to the company's online outage map.

Police shut down Route 517 between Franklin and Miller streets for about six hours.

Zbikowski is charged with failure to install an interlock device and careless driving. He also had a $500 traffic warrant out of Newark and was released pending a court appearance.

Assisting at the crash were the Hackettstown Fire Department, Warren County Hazmat, Hackettstown Department of Public Works, Warren County Road Department, JCP&L, Verizon and Comcast.
