Warren Hills hosts orientation for 7th graders

Warren Hills Middle School hosts a program to introduce incoming students and their parents to the school.

Warren Hills Regional Middle School students, parents and staff came together recently at the school's annual Bagels and Locks orientation program.

Approximately 250 incoming seventh-grade students and their parents attended the orientation, facilitated by teachers, administrators and the 7th Grade Academy committee.

The student orientation begins with a bagel breakfast in their new homeroom, where students met their homeroom teacher and classmates. They then were given locker assignments, and an opportunity to practice using their lockers, hence the name Bagels and Locks.

The faculty will be welcoming new assistant principal Lee Turkowski, student assistance counselor and anti-bullying specialist Christine Tyburczy, Spanish teacher Jessica Wallace, and English language arts teacher Alissa Kring. New improvements have been made to the building, including two renovated restrooms, the installation of technology access points in each classroom and upgraded furniture in some classrooms.

The middle school community is looking forward to more upcoming back-to-school events, including Back to School Night on Thursday, Sept. 24, the Kick-off Festival Sept. 25 and Community Day on Oct. 3.
