The contest is one of the newest additions to the venerable fair.
The Warren County Farmers' Fair celebrated one of its newest additions for 2016 on Wednesday, with the "Most Pitiful Pooch" contest.
The fair's own version of an ugly dog competition rewarded the dog deemed most pitiful based on "introduction information, unusual attributes, natural pitifulness and personality," organizers said.

The contest was held adjacent to the fair's annual "Posh Pop Contest," which more traditionally honors the best dressed dog.
Special celebrity guest judge Anthony Rubio -- an internationally acclaimed pet courier -- was featured on the judging panel.
Audience input via applause also helped determine the winners.
Winners were as follows:
"Sir Posh Pup": Mickey, owned by Alexis Smith, of Lopatcong Township.
"Madame Posh Pup": Hailey, owned by Cindy Bethman, of Upper Mount Bethel Township.
"Most Pitiful Pooch": Ollie, owned by the Bell family, of White Township.
"Stinkiest Pitiful Pooch": Fergie, owned by Brian Fellner, of Stewartsville.
