Three have been nominated to fill the Hackettstown council vacancy.
One Hackettstown official has stepped down, and the council on Wednesday will choose who steps up to replace him.
Councilman William Conforti resigned from the municipal government Aug. 5 because he was moving out of town, Town Clerk/Administrator William Kuster said.
Conforti, a Republican, was in the first year of a three-year term. Kuster said the local party committee has selected three nominees to replace him: James Lambo, John Stout and Joseph Bristow.
Both Stout and Bristow are former councilmen. Lambo has previously run for council, most recently as an independent last year when he lost to Conforti and Scott Sheldon.
The council has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the municipal building where they will select one of the three. Hackettstown has six council members and a mayor.

The appointee will serve at least through the Nov. 8 general election.
The Republican and Democratic committees can each submit a candidate for the ballot to assume the remainder of Conforti's term, Kuster said.
Other Warren County municipalities have had to replace resigning officials in the last year. Lopatcong Township appointed a new councilwoman in July. Most of Greenwich Township's governing body was replaced following a series of resignations last fall.
