Police in Warren County charged a 24-year-old with marijuana possession after a traffic stop.
A 24-year-old Greenwich Township man might have never been stopped if police didn't see his car muffler dragging along Route 57.
A Lopatcong Township officer saw the car at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday and stopped it near Strykers Road. The muffler was "sparking" as it dragged along the road, police said.
When speaking to the driver, identified as Jake H. Martin, of the 100 block of Washington Street, an officer detected the odor of marijuana and searched the car, according to police.
Police seized less than 50 grams of marijuana in the car.
Martin was taken to the Lopatcong Township police station and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, as well as various traffic violations.
Martin was released on his own recognizance with a pending municipal court date.
