The Blairstown practitioner has been told to stop seeing female patients until a monitor can be assigned to observe him.

A Warren County chiropractor was arrested this week after allegedly groping two female patients, the county prosecutor announced Friday.

The charges come two weeks after the practitioner, 61-year-old Edward Kramer, was ordered to stop treating women until a monitor can be assigned to chaperone him.

Kramer operates Kramer Family Chiropractic, 174 Route 94 in Blairstown Township. He is charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact. Each count carries up to 18 months in state prison.

According to the criminal charges, both victims were patients when Kramer inappropriately fondled them. The prosecutor's office investigated the allegations with Blairstown police.

Office staff declined to comment on the charges Friday afternoon.

Kramer was arrested Tuesday, the prosecutor's office said. He was released after his first appearance at state Superior Court in Belvidere with two instructions: That he have no contact with the victims, and that he comply with the New Jersey Chiropractic Licensing Board's recommendation that he stop treating women until he can be observed.

The state attorney general's office announced that limitation last week, but publicly disagreed with the licensing body it oversees. Attorney General Christopher Porrino said he wanted the board to suspend Kramer's license while the investigation continues, nj.com reported.

"Two female patients have alleged that Dr. Kramer inappropriately touched them under the guise of providing chiropractic treatment. We believe the information they provided warrants an immediate and full temporary suspension of his license until these allegations are resolved. We're disappointed that the Board did not agree with us," according to Porrino's statement. "The Board instead has required Dr. Kramer to have a female chaperone in the office overseeing his treatment of female patients until this matter is heard in an administrative court of law."
