A vacancy has opened up on the local governing body.
If you want to serve on the borough council in Washington, here's a chance to sign up.
The borough Republican committee is accepting applications through Jan. 17 to fill a 2-year council term. The seat opened up after Councilman David Higgins was sworn in as mayor at the start of the year.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, registered Republicans and a resident of the borough for at least a year, according to an announcement from the local party chairwoman, Dawn Higgins, the mayor's wife. Interviews will be conducted after the application deadline.
The announcement says anyone interested should contact Dawn Higgins at 908-689-5552 for more information.
