Movie showings are scheduled where the original horror flick was filmed.

For some, every Friday the 13th is a day of dread. Or perhaps a romp in hokey superstition.

In Blairstown Township, it's a celebration.

"Friday the 13th" -- the iconic 1980 horror film that introduced the world to masked killer Jason Voorhees -- was famously filmed in and around the northern Warren County town. And once again, the movie will be screened for enthusiastic audiences in the town where it was shot.

Roy's Hall, formerly the Blairstown Theatre, on Main Street will hold two screenings on Friday (Jan. 13, of course) at 6:30 and 9 p.m., according to its website. The theater building itself appears early in the movie.

"Horror film fanatics from across the country flock to the area to tour the local filming locations, concluding their visit with a screening of the movie at Roy's Hall," the theater's page says of the event. "The theatre and other area landmarks are prominently featured in the film and audiences go wild whenever they appear."

Tickets are available at royshall.org.
