Police caught on to the alleged scheme.
A 28-year-old Warren County man is accused of stealing items from ShopRite and then returning them to Wal-Mart for a gift card.
Charged is Anthony R. Montana, of Belvidere.
Mansfield Township police said Montana stole the items from the supermarket on Feb. 15. He later entered Wal-Mart and was successful in gaining a gift card for returning the stolen items, according to police.

Police do not state in a news release the value or what was stolen.
Once investigators were on to Montana, they alerted Wal-Mart representatives, who canceled the gift card, according to police. Montana was charged at 3:46 p.m. Sunday and was later released, pending a court appearance.
