The driver is facing a slew of charges in the crash after the March 10, 2017, incident.
A drunken driver in a school zone crashed into a street sign and fled before he was found fixing a tire, Hackettstown police said.
Charged is Christopher McKenna, 33, of Port Murray in Mansfield Township.
Police said McKenna was driving a black Subaru at 10:23 a.m. Friday when a witness saw him jump a curb at Route 517 and Route 46, hit a street sign and keep going.

McKenna ended up leaving a hubcap and part of the vehicle's bumper behind. Officers searched the area and found a vehicle matching the description along Sharp Street.

Police then found McKenna trying to repair a tire on the passenger side. An officer detected the odor of alcohol while talking to McKenna, police said.
McKenna is charged with drunken driving, drunken driving in a school zone, refusal to submit a breath test, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and other traffic violations.
He was released pending a court hearing.
