The woman now is facing a citation for criminal trespass.

A woman ordered to stay away from a Mansfield Township Wal-Mart after stealing more than $250 worth of items returned a day after the arrest, police said.

Police said Shane Ultimo, 21, of Hackettstown, at 1:43 p.m. Friday concealed $89 worth of items at the Wal-Mart store by placing them into a bag. He then allegedly placed the bag onto a shelf for Lauren Capalbo, 27, of Hackettstown, to retrieve, police said.

Capalbo then entered the store, picked up the bag and went to customer service to try to return the stolen goods for a gift card, police said.

A store loss prevention officer however, was onto the scheme and detained the pair until Mansfield officers arrived. Additional store video surveillance footage showed Capalbo making two other fraudulent returns on March 13 for $88 and $80, respectively.

Capalbo was charged in that incident with two counts of theft while Ultimo was charged with theft and driving with a suspended license. Both were released pending a court appearance.

But Capalbo didn't follow instructions by police to stay away from Wal-Mart, police said.

She returned the day after the incident -- Saturday -- and was cited with defiant trespass.
