With activities planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., members plan to meet at 3 p.m. for a service followed by an ice cream social.
Members of the First Presbyterian Church, of Washington, N.J., plan to spend Sunday, Nov. 8 working in the community serving others.
Members will be provided with opportunities for all ages, interests and abilities between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and they will return to the sanctuary for a worship service at 3 p.m. followed by a slideshow of the day's activities and an ice cream social.
Activities include: playing bingo with the residents of Warren Haven nursing home; raking leaves for seniors; filling backpacks with healthy weekend snacks for children in need; baking goodies for EMS squad, police and firefighters; cooking and freezing pasta entrees for the homeless; assisting with animals at a no-kill shelter; making floral arrangements and paper crafts for shut-ins; knitting and crocheting lap blankets and pocket squares for patients and shut ins; assembling packets of useful items for a homeless shelter; cleaning and organizing the pantry for the community food bank; and making needed on-site repairs for the church property.
